This time I got a brilliant idea to organize an atlans race. WELL, a brilliant idea it turned out to be!
First of all, I got a hint that it's a good idea to make ppl PKs so that they cannot warp and therefore cheat. Well, that went fine after some assist from MODs and GMs. I was feeling really confident.
Then we wanted to gather the people for the start to the atlans vault... OFC ppl not belonging there wanted to come and see what's going on so we had to get rid of them to start the event in peace.
The event started and everything went down simultaneosly:
1) I hadn't thought (neither had assisting GMs and MODs) that ppl who are PKs will automatically attack eachother on a PVP server. So.. down go some players and the flaming starts in /POSTS. Well, go on then with the killing... I couldn't control it anymore. I had told ppl before the start that it's not going to be a PVP event, which automatically made me the bad guy.
2) Assisting MOD who should be at the end of the race welcoming racers to tarkan gets DC. Both me and the assisting GM race to the finish line to compensate.
3) I read /POSTS but the only thing I see is ppl telling they are quitting the race "coz they can't win anymore". I try to be polite and respond to those with a phrase "Thank you for playing!"
4) I didn't realize that would make ppl think that the event is over and few more ppl left the race. Flaming gets worse and I start to panic a little bit.
5) Finally, after 10 minutes of waiting, 3 ppl have found their way to Tarkan and the race is over. Keeping a cool head pays off.
Gratz to the three true heroes who managed to adapt.
Things I learned from this:
1) Organize races on a PVM server if ppl are made PKs...
2) Ppl love to flame... gotta ignore those posts and focus more.
3) Some ppl actually can focus and do their best even in very confusing situations.
4) I'm a complete newbie.
But hey, there's always the next time. Hope you had fun reading this. I sure had while writing it. Cheers!
